Properly Using a Fire Extinguisher

Learn how to use your fire extinguisher before it's too late!

When it comes to protecting your family and loved ones, there are important steps you must take to be prepared for an emergency, especially an unexpected fire! One of those steps includes having a fire extinguisher readily available in your home, as well as knowing how to properly use it. To make this process an easy one, try using the acronym P.A.S.S. when learning to use your fire extinguisher:

• P: PULL the pin
• A: AIM the nozzle at the base of the fire
• S: SQUEEZE the handle to release the fire extinguishing agent
• S: SWEEP the nozzle from side to side until the fire appears to be out
